A Girl Lost in Time

A poem composed by Samantha (Year 11 Advanced English)

In a garden bathed in golden light,

A little girl dances,

Her laughter trailing like ribbons in her wake.

Her world is small, yet in vast wonder,

Every blade of grass, a towering tree.

Every petal, a fragrant universe.

She chases butterflies,

her giggles echoing through the quiet afternoon,

A symphony of delight.

In her eyes there is a spark of innocence; untouched by the world.

A pure reflection of boundless possibility.

With each twirl and pirouette, she paints the air with the colours of her joy,

Like splashing life onto a canvas.

In her eyes there's a sparkle,

 a glint of wonder

Reflecting the magic of the world seen through her gaze,

Where every dewdrop holds a secret,

 every cloud a story,

And every bird song

 a melody just for her.

I watch from the edges of her world, a silent observer.

Condemned to watch from afar.

Longing to capture the moment and take it for myself,

To bask in her unguarded laughter.

But fate has deemed it otherwise,

And so I remain

A spector of longing.

In her dance, I glimpse the ethereal thread of dreams,

A fleeting wisp of unfettered spirit in a world grown stale.

A beckoning call to journey where the stars weave tales,

And the breeze carries secrets,

In the sanctuary of childlike wonder.
