Ship in a Bottle
A poem composed by Emily (Year 7)
Stuck in a small bottle
Trapped in a large ocean
Your boat sways side to side
Sending your ship into motion
Don’t worry , don’t panic
Your just stuck in the sea
Don’t cry, don’t scream
This time it’s not a dream
The clouds grow grey
The sun starts to dim
As your thoughts start to race
The storm will begin
It will hurl insults
in the form of its thunder
Take your tears and make it the rain
Stay calm , don’t worry
It won’t cause much pain
It’s all too dark
You can barely see a thing
To get out of this
You’ll do anything
So I’ll say this now , watching is no fun
Close your eyes and count from three to one
Keep your breathing steady
Ignore the whispers of the wind
Slowly but surely
The storm will realise you will win
The clouds swirl rapidly
The wind starts to scream
The thunder will attack you
Or so it seems
The clouds go white
The wind fades away
The thunder retreats
And it goes back to day
But sadly the bottle
It remained unopened
And isn’t even slightly broken
You won’t get out
Not today
Just sit and wait
I’m sure you’ll find your way
